About Me

Myself Abhilasha Abigail. I work as a doctoral candidate in the Laboratory for Chromatin Biology, Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, Delhi-110085. I work under co-Supervision. My doctoral work revolves around the cloning of the INI-1 subunit of SWI/SNF from chicken origin and computational modeling of the chicken SWI/SNF complex. I have also worked on its purification from chicken liver (unpublished data). I believe that the nature of my work is closely related to your line of work. I have also assisted in lab management and have contributed to establishment of cell culture facility from scratch to fully functional lab (including installtion, maintenance and functioning of the lab instruments like laminar work flow , phase contrast microscope, and CO2 incubator). I have also contributed to writing of Grant Proposals, scientific writing, and scientific writing as well as assisted in closing down and handing over of the laboratory upon superannuation of the PI. I also am a B.Ed from Delhi University (2008-2009 batch) and have also taught school students (class 8 and class 11). The experience made me learn lesson planning, pedagogy of biology which also helped me in teaching and guiding the M.Sc. (4th semester Students, lab juniors as well as interns. I also have extensive experience in counselling university students by virtue of my long PhD tenure. I have counselled the M.Sc. students for their PhD's abroad including one who is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at University of Exeter, UK. I also happen to know the financial requirements that come with it especially student loans for abroad studies. Scientific Writing is my forte. My first review manuscript I was able to do within 15 days and i worked 16 hours or more each day without hassles and complete focus.  Technique-wise I am very experienced in electrophoresis - DNA and Proteins. Western Blotting and manual development of the signal on photographic films as well phosphorimager, mice dissection, Protein Isolation through Column Chromatography, Nuclei Isolation, chemical preparation, PCR, Elisa, Protein/DNA Estimation, Cell culture (esp suspention Sp2O hybridoma cell lines, raising polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies and their purification, G-50 resin Column purification of DNA and plasmids, DNA/Protein/cell-line stock preparation and maintenance, RNA isolation, Glassware washing, Lab journal maintenance etc., administrative official works realated to lab or Grant Proposals. I am a hardworking, diligent, humble, extremely focussed in my work , motivated, and I work with excellence in all that i take into my hands. Also, I am amicable to right collaborations kind of a researcher and can work in good positive teams. I am open to positive criticism as well. As a detail oriented, and, qualified and a creative candidate, and very well versed in technical and theoretical Knowledge. I will be a major asset to your laboratory/establishment.
