About Me

I believe all academic concepts with visual and practical learning experiences, helps students to understand how their schooling applies in the real-world. So I encourage practical, day to day life examples and experiments whenever and wherever possible. I encourage students of mixed abilities to work together by promoting small group or whole class activities. I encourage students to ask questions and investigate their own ideas which can help them improve their problem-solving skills as well as gain a deeper understanding of academic concepts. Both of which are important life skills. I encourage the students to understand the concepts instead of making them mug up formulae. I also teach craft. I use various specific methods to teach the craft. I use EXPERIMENTING which is central to the arts and is used in making connections between the concrete and the abstract. This requires that students investigate, test, explore, manipulate, solve problems, make decisions, and organize information in hands-on ways. Experimenting also encourages students to use cooperative skills effectively in interpreting and communicating findings. This will enhance students' motivation, cooperation, and understanding. I use BRAINSTORMING as a thinking strategy to help students generate questions, ideas, and examples and explore a central idea or topic. During brainstorming, students share ideas that come to mind and record these ideas without making judgments about them. I use COOPERATIVE-LEARNING techniques to allow students to work as a team to accomplish a common learning goal. For example, a group of students may work together to create an artwork. I use FOCUSED EXPLORATION in which students use the materials and equipment available in ways of their choosing. I observe while students are exploring, and provide guidance as needed.
