I have spent the past two years working with children in primary and secondary schools, in large classrooms settings as well as individual sessions. I really enjoy teaching, it is such a fulfilling career and by working with smaller groups of students and individuals, I feel that I could make a huge difference in their learning process, academically as well as socially and mentally. I think tutoring allows students to learn in a manner better suited to their needs than in a classroom with many others. I think that an inspirational tutor will have various techniques of teaching different subjects and making the lessons as interesting as possible. Having taught a wide range of ages, topics of interest vary but I believe it is important to incorporate individual interests into the teaching of a lesson for it to be a successful learning experience. An inspirational tutor has to inspire the children to want to learn and from my experience of working with individuals and small groups, I have gained knowledge of how to create innovative and inspiring lessons. I motivate students in different ways. If I know the students well, I can use their interests to create a lesson incorporating the knowledge they need to progress whilst making it more rememberable and enjoyable for them. I also like to use a reward system, if possible, based on their interests. For example, if they have answered everything correctly and their favourite hobby is dancing, I will give them ballet shoes sticker. When they reach 10 stickers, they can show me a ballet move or tell me their favourite experience of dancing. I think rewards based on their interests are more inspiring to them than just basic stickers. With knowledge of working as a teaching assistant in three different countries, I have a wide range of ideas of teaching subjects in innovative ways and experience of different behavioural methods and classroom control. I am currently living in London and working as a teaching assistant to gain experience in an English school before applying to do my PGCE in primary education. I would be a successful tutor as I have experience of working 1-to-1 and in small groups and I am very easy to talk to which makes students feel comfortable during the lesson, thus, helping them progress and learn effectively.
