Rahul Mishra belongs to two of the most respected family of Benaras Gharana tradition of music,His paternal grand father was Late Pt. Baijnath Prasad Mishra of the Benaras Gharana of Sarangi and maternal grandfather was Late Pt. Sharda Sahai (Direct descendant of Pt. Ram Sahai ji-the founder of Banaras style of tabla playing). He is son of Pt. Triloki Nath Mishra and 'Gandabandh Shishya'(senior most Disciple) of the legendary Padmavibhushan Girija Devi-herself a disciple of His great grand father, Late Pt. Sarju Prasad Mishra. Rahul is professionally trained in most of the forms of Vocal Hindustani Classical, that are typical of the Benaras Gharana, including Khayal,Thumri,Tappa,Dadra,chaiti,kajri,Hori,Bhajan etc. Rahul Mishra also holds a Praveen Degree from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabaad. Moreover, he has been an Awardee for excellence in Vocal Music from Rotary club (Kolkata) and Sur mani from Sur Singar Samsad-Mumbai. The performing Artist also is a National Scholarship holder from Ministry of Culture and Visiting Vocal Classical Faculty in PRSSF Varanasi, India. In 2014, Rahul has also collaborated on a fusion album showcasing his style of Vocal Classical music with a U.S. Based singer/songwriter ITIDA titled, 'Des-Pardes' released by Hungama music, in which Rahul Mishra has also been involved as a Music Composer. Rahul Mishra is the co-founder of the Band called 'Des~Pardes' with U.S.Based singer/Songwriter ITIDA which is the first international fusion band to be the part of Legendary Music composer A.R Rehman's music company called "Qyuki". Rahul Mishra is working towards a Goal that his Late Grand father Pt.Sharda Sahai started 'Each one,Teach one' through which he gives Free music education to the people who can't afford to learn music and has bright future and also by educating foreign artists the combination of Indian classical and Western music similarity and growth together.
