About Me

Sahir Sharma is a University Teacher at the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, University of Limerick. He teaches Game Design, Computer Graphics, Big Data and Programming/CS. Having worked as a Full-Stack freelancer in the Indian startup space for about 4 years, Sahir has experience in varied areas such as Game-Dev, Augmented Reality App-Dev, Web-Dev, Med-Tech, 3D printing, etc. Sahir came to Ireland in 2018 to pursue a Master's from Trinity College Dublin. He holds a 2.1 GPA in MSc Computer Science (Data Science) having 90+ scores in modules Scalable Computing and Data Analytics. His Master's Thesis was titled, "Unity3D Prototyping Tool Based On Machinations", wherein his research proved that there was a need of a better interface for Game Economy Designers to have a real time track of their Game Resources. As a part of his Dissertation, he provided a sophisticated plugin for Unity3D Game Engine, which performed game data visualization in Unity itself for easy play testing. Sahir has a diverse background when it comes to technology. Holding a a First Class Honors in BTech (Information Technology) from VIT University Vellore, he was elected as the Technical Head for the IEEE Student Branch in Vellore, India from 2016-17. He led a student-run Initiative called Techloop+, which was a free to attend evening lecture series on various state of the art technological topics within Coding, Electronics, Design, Machine Learning etc. With a Team of 55 young IEEE volunteers Sahir organized NASA SpaceApps Vellore 2017 for which he was the Indian Location Lead. As a freelance technologist, he has also organized various other national and international hackathons like CAMTech Jugaadathon-X (Semi-Finals and Finals), VIT-Purdue Hack, WeHack'15, WeHack Fall etc. This year, Sahir, (as a Location Lead for Ireland) organized NASA Space Apps Challenge Limerick 2021 (held on Oct 1-3, 2021) which was a National level event and Ireland's very own Data Science Hackathon featuring problem statements by NASA engineers. This hackathon is first of the few which aim to start a hackathon movement in Ireland. He is also deeply passionate about emerging tech which solves problems and rapid prototyping of products which could lead to business use cases that can disrupt industries. Sahir is looking forward to start his Ph.D in applied Computer Science & Psychology in 2022. His research interest is focused on analyzing human multi-sensory principles behind building immersive experiences to apply AI and optimize the overall Quality of Experience.
