I am humbly known as the ‘Child Whisperer’ within my social circles, as someone who can work with children with little to no difficulties, understand a child’s needs easily, and calm a moody child efficiently. I owe it all to my ‘think-before-you-act mentality’, as I prefer taking logical steps before acting on any situations. Moreover, I enjoy pushing my limits to achieve more than what I can do. I do not give up easily, until I achieve what I set out for. Besides that, as a future Early Childhood Educator, I perceive every child as talented, who will grow up to serve a unique purpose. While pursuing my Diploma, I completed various modules and practicums, which developed new knowledge and skills to become an efficient Early Educator. For instance, I acquired knowledge on devising interactive teaching aids to increase children's engagement level during lessons. In practicums, I learnt to gain the trust of children and foster meaningful relationships with children. I applied my knowledge gained from the modules in my Diploma, to plan lessons according to the students’ abilities, strengths and interests. I also came across children with additional needs, such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, who gave me the opportunity to observe them and gain insights into how they learn and develop. These observations along with my knowledge on inclusiveness, learnt from an Early Intervention module, helped me to prepare inclusive lessons. I enjoy playing Badminton, which was my Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) in both my primary and secondary schools. When I represented my school in several competitions, I had to attend vigorous trainings every week, which developed grit, sportsmanship, and team-building skills such as respect in me. A few years down the road, in 2017, I volunteered as a Teaching Assistant in New Creation Church. I became an efficient team-player, when I worked with the teachers cooperatively, to achieve the same goal, which was teaching six-year old children character-building strategies through stories and activities. I also became more outgoing and confident, as I interacted with new children and parents, every week.
